Baan Jasmines small contribution to supporting sustainability

& community on koh samui island

Linen and towels

We like to preserve water on the island because it is in short supply being a small tropical island. Our housekeeper changes bed linen, pool and beach towels weekly. If guests would like their housekeeper to visit more often please let us know.

We conserve this from monsoon rains by feeding it from the guttering back into our water tank. We had a filter fitted to our tank last year so the water can be used by the villa.

salt chlorination swimming pool

We installed this new system in 2018 and as a result we are now using less island water to top up our beautiful Bali stone swimming pool. The salt chlorination system is kinder to the skin and also the environment.

sunscreen in the sea

We advise guests to wear rash tops and choose sunscreen which does not harm coral when snorkelling. Please ask us for more information.

beach collection bin painting

Baan Jasmine sponsored the painting of a beach plastic collection bin in 2018. A wonderful project for any guests with artistic talent to get involved with. Please ask us if your interested and donate a few hours or a couple of days of your time to help reduce plastic in the south china sea.

king of bread

We purchase our bakery products from this bakery close to the villa. This in turn supports local business and reduces packaging and car/bike emissions from driving to larger supermarkets.

Chiang Mai Elephant coffee

We purchase large bags of filter coffee to decant into our containers thus reduce packaging and waste. This coffee is also produced sustainably in Chiang Mai at the Elephant Nature Reserve.

coconut soap, body lotion. citronella & sleep spray

We have now sourced products for the villa made on the island from virgin coconuts and mountain rain water! They smell & feel divine. Let us know if you would like to purchase any to take home.

koh samui nathon Hospital childrens’ ward

We have provided old linen and towels to be used on the childrens’ ward. Our villa management maintenance team provide significant voluntary support to Nathon Childrens’ hospital.

old linen, towels & unused coconut soap

Donated to local workers from Thailand & Myanmar in need of support. Please let us know if you have any clothing, shoes, toiletries, books or games you would like to donate they will be well received.

Please let us know if you have ideas about how we can contribute more to island sustainability and support more local koh samui businesses.
